The research carried out aimed to investigate in the National Common Curricular Base, area of Natural Sciences, in the Reference Matrix of the state of RS of 2023, the relationships with the content of the Science Textbook from PNLD of the 2020, referring to the 9th year of Elementary Education, with a focus on Environmental Education. The research was developed within a qualitative approach, being anchored in Content Analysis. It was noted that the term EA is rarely included in curricular documents, presenting the theme implicitly. In relation to the contents of the 9th year Science textbooks, an organization was observed as per BNCC guidelines, but from the conservative perspective of EA. In view of this, the lack of EA in curricular documents may influence the teacher’s planning, and may go unnoticed, thus hindering the necessary discussion on the topic, especially from a critical perspective.
