This work is an excerpt from a master’s research project that aimed to investigate the contributions that the Teaching-Learning-Evaluation Methodology for Mathematics through Problem Solving can do to student learning. Guided by the ten stages proposed by this Methodology, three classes were held in a pre-university course, and each class dealt with a mechanics problem based on a concrete object. After the classes, it was concluded from the analysis of the students’ production records, the questionnaires applied and the observations of the research teacher that this Methodology favors the learning of content by students, as it awakens an investigative and problem-solving attitude. It also stimulates the development of attitudes and skills, such as communication and argumentation, because students take on a protagonist role in the teaching-learning process.
