Teaching cases are valuable research tools and can be used in teacher training and to support professional development, illustrating everyday situations that permeate school practice. In this article, we present how teaching cases were used in the first three meetings of the training of teachers who teach mathematics, with the aim of discussing and analyzing: a) how they promote discussions about teacher training; b) how they bring out characteristics of mathematical anxiety. The training was carried out in the first semester of 2022, with five online meetings being held with a class of 10 teachers. As a result, it can be stated that the teaching cases allowed an advance in the training of the participating teachers because they contributed to the reflection on the role of the teacher, affectivity in teaching, and error as a starting point for rethinking teaching practice.
