Mathematical modeling reveals itself as a possibility for Early Childhood Education. The objective of this research is to investigate the potential of mathematical modeling in Early Childhood Education in order to develop statistical literacy in children and contribute to their integral formation. Thus, a practice of mathematical modeling was developed with students from the II period of Early Childhood Education. From a qualitative approach, the instruments used in the production of data were the teacher’s field notes, the children’s textual productions and the photographic record. The results reveal that mathematical modeling makes it possible to develop statistical literacy in the child as it gives the opportunity to collect, organize, analyze data and communicate the results in graphs and tables. It contributes to the integral formation of the child, articulating the cognitive, motor and social dimensions, enabling him to relate better with himself, with the other and with the environment in which he is inserted.
