THE SCIENCE CLUB AND ITS POTENTIAL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF INVESTIGATIVE SCIENTIFIC COMPETENCIES

This text presents the results of the application of a didactic proposal developed in a Science Club at a public school in Mato Grosso. The central question was formulated as follows: How can activities carried out in a science club stimulate the development of investigative scientific skills among participants? The objective is to report on a study focused on fostering the development of Scientific Investigative Competencies (SIC) within a science club. To gather the data, the study used an observation form completed by external observers positioned at the stations, as well as interviews with the 16 club members participating in the study. The qualitative research showed that science clubs, and especially the activities they develop, are opportune for developing as SIC, although not all of these activities developed to the same extent for each participant.
