Abstract

This article comes from research carried out in the Postgraduate Program, at a university in the South of Brazil, during the years 2023-2024. The core of this study is to describe the contributions of the Desmos software to the teaching process of affine and quadratic functions. Of a qualitative and descriptive nature, it was carried out with 20 students of the 3rd year of high school, in a public school, located in Guajará-Mirim, in the interior of Rondônia. The data collection instruments included printed materials created for the research, audio and video recordings, the researcher’s field diary and the final questionnaire. The results indicate that the Desmos software helped in understanding the effects of coefficients when affine and quadratic functions were explored. The ease came from the quick rapid and precise generation of images and from the software’s ability to facilitate the manipulation of coefficients through the slider control.
