ATENÇÃO E ATO MENTAL NO DE MUSICA DE AGOSTINHO
Resumo
Neste artigo pretende-se analisar a partir do De Musica, Livro VI, as teses de Agostinho em que ele nega a sobreveniência dos corpos à mente/alma, embora a ação corporal seja percebida pela mente. Para ele, a mente humana não pode estar submetida à determinação dos corpos, como se fosse uma massa ao trabalho do artesão. Entretanto, os objetos dados a partir do exterior não produzem efeitos na alma, mas somente no corpo, e cada efeito no corpo é um tipo de ação e a alma conhece cada um. Portanto, tal ação não pode ser oculta à alma, a saber, a alma percebe-a. Decorre disso que há um certo paralelismo entre a ação no corpo a percepção desse movimento na alma. Esta argumentação necessita da análise e esclarecimento dos conceitos de percepção, ato mental e atenção como constituintes dessa teoria da percepção.
