Violence is a public health problem that causes morbidity and mortality among different populations. In this sense, it is extremely important to know the characteristics of the most recurrent violence in Brazil in order to expand and develop prevention and coping strategies. The present study aims to analyze the occurrence and temporal trend of notifications of physical, psycho/moral and sexual violence registered throughout the Brazilian territory between the years 2009 and 2021. This is a quantitative, descriptive study, mediated by DataSUS database, from the “Epidemiological diseases and morbidity” tab, with an emphasis on “Interpersonal/self-inflicted violence”. The variables used were: physical, sexual and psycho/moral violence, reported between 2009 and 2021, in all regions of Brazil, by sex, age group, race and place of occurrence. It was observed that notifications of the types of violence analyzed have increased in the last 11 years, except in the first year of the pandemic. Physical violence is the one with the most notifications. Furthermore, the most prevalent cases are female, occurring between 10 and 39 years old, white and mixed race, and residence is the main place of occurrence. In this sense, the question arises whether these characteristics refer to the public that suffers most or that most reports the occurrence of violence. Furthermore, the importance of developing studies and public policies in favor of the most vulnerable public is emphasized, in order to reduce underreporting of violence and reduce occurrence rates.
