Abstract

The valuation of technology is important in the process of technology transfer, especially the stage of assigning value to research and development (R&D) activities, including the creation of a system of indicators of technological research effort and performance. Science and Technology Institutions (ICTs) have a major challenge for their Technological Innovation Centers (NITs), complying with the Brazilian Innovation Law, enacted in 2004. The study aims to create a methodology to help negotiate intellectual property, technology sales, patent licensing, project ownership and economic exploitation, ownership of inventions, and exploitation in production and commercialization, containing a step-by-step methodology for valuing technology in Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) projects.

The aim of this work is to identify the techniques for correctly valuing a technology developed in a company. Once these techniques have been identified, an attempt is made to ascertain which methods are currently used in the industry.
