Safety culture and response to radiological emergencies

Abstract

Safety culture is defined as the set of characteristics and attitudes in organizations and people that establishes that safety-related issues receive the necessary attention for their relevance. Considering radiological protection defined as the set of principles and actions aimed at preventing the individual and the environment from the damage caused by exposure to ionizing radiation, and considering that a radiological intervention is justified only when it is expected to achieve a benefit greater than the damage generated. This work, based on the narrative literature review, aims to promote guidance related to organizational structure, radiological protection, management of radiological emergencies and contamination by radioactive compounds, with regard to activities associated with medical practices.
